Commenting ahead of the debate on the general principles of the Food (Wales) Bill in the Senedd on Wednesday, Welsh Conservative Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, Peter Fox MS said:
“Increasing food security, tackling food poverty and malnutrition are key aims of my Bill – it will deliver for people the length and breadth of Wales, in particular rural communities and farmers.
“This Bill establishes a series of Primary and Secondary Food Goals and places a duty on the Welsh Government to publish a National Food Strategy to ensure that we provide the people of Wales with affordable, healthy and economically, environmentally and socially sustainable food.
“I hope that the Food (Wales) Bill will progress further now and continue to enjoy cross-party support so that we can have that joined up strategy and safeguard our food supply for future generations.”
