Peter Fox MS, Member of the Senedd for Monmouth had the privilege of visiting the coveted Monmouth Gin Company last week to gain insight into the local beverage industry.
Founded in 2019, owners Tracey and Graham launched their London Dry Monmouth Gin from their small unit in the Treowen Estate.
Just one year later, they were awarded the IWSC Silver Award, alongside gaining a ‘Great Taste’ award and, a few months later, were shortlisted at the ‘Made in Wales Awards 2020’. In 2021, the company gained a silver award at the World Gin Awards for their London Dry and gold at the London Spirits Competition.
Now, they have two gins – the flagship London Dry and Pink Gin which are made in their new location, at Overmonow in the heart of Monmouth.
After the visit, Peter said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Monmouth Gin Company who have done a wonderful job at utilising local produce to create a top-quality product which was rated the best Welsh Gin in 2020!”
“After a difficult few years due to the pandemic, it is great to see local businesses continue to grow and win award after award.”
“Their success in Wales and beyond is a real testament to their innovation and hard work. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for them.”
On their chat with Peter, Monmouth Gin Company said:
“We would like to take the opportunity to thank Peter for taking the time to visit us at our very small distillery and to listen to the challenges that we, like many other small business owners, are currently experiencing.”
“The next 12 months will be pivotal for us as we look to expand our range, open our doors to the public to offer distillery tours, gin tastings, and gin making experiences so that we can take a step forward in establishing ourselves as a Monmouthshire visitor attraction.”
