Local MS requests meeting with Cabinet Secretary to discuss Congestion
Local MS, Peter Fox, raised the issue of congestion at the infamous High Beech roundabout in Chepstow with the Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales, Ken Skates MS, during questions in the Senedd on Wednesday 20th November.
During his question to the Cabinet Secretary, Peter Fox highlighted that congestion at the roundabout is a major issue for local residents and commuters, and frequently an issue in his inbox and on the doorstep.
Peter asked for an update on the potential works on the roundabout, and also for a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for him to see the issue first hand. In his response, Ken Skates MS indicated that he would be happy to meet with Peter to see for himself the congestion in that area.
Peter Fox, Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, has said:
“The issue of congestion at High Beech, and around Chepstow, has been a pressing issue for my constituents for many years. ”
“There needs to be something done as soon as possible to alleviate the issues faced by motorists each day. Traffic hits the area from Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire and feeds onto the M4 and M48, it is a nightmare for commuters and residents a like. ”
“I was very pleased that the Cabinet Secretary indicated to me that he would be happy to meet with me on site to see the issues firsthand, and to see what can be done to resolve this, hopefully once and for all. ”
“I have asked my office to follow this up with the Cabinet Secretary, and I look forward to meeting him in due course. I will update all of constituents following this meeting. ”
