Local MS, Peter Fox, met recently with the Magor Action Group on Rail, ‘MAGOR’, to discuss the Burn’s Report proposals and specifically the station at Magor.
Peter has been involved in the calls for a station at Magor since the scheme was launched in 2013, and has been a strong and vocal supporter throughout.
During the meeting, Peter was given an in depth analysis of the train lines, systems and signalling technology in use between Cardiff and Bristol, and how the proposed new stations and line upgrades will fit into the system.
In addition to discussing some technical points and queries, the MAGOR asked Peter to continue as a champion for the station at Magor, and Peter was only too pleased to provide this assurance.
Peter Fox, Member of the Senedd for Monmouth, and Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport & Rural Affairs, has said:
“I am very grateful to the MAGOR for meeting with me, and for a very thorough and interesting briefing on rail systems between Newport and Severn Tunnel Junction.”
“We had an excellent discussion on the benefits that a station at Magor would bring to the area, in addition to how the other stations recommended in the Burn’s report would also improve the wider region.”
“A station at Magor, and the other recommended additions and upgrades will improve transport provision for everyone, and this is something that I will continue to champion and call for.”
“I always enjoy meeting with residents and groups to discuss projects, opportunities or queries, and I will ensure the points raised with me today are taken up with the appropriate teams.”
