Peter Fox MS was welcomed to Dogs Trust Cardiff last week, where he was greeted by a wagging tail reception from sponsor dog, Boris the Springer Spaniel.
Monmouth MS Peter was interested to hear more about the work Dogs Trust does across Wales. After being given a tour of the Cardiff centre, Mr Fox stopped to talk about some of the ‘impawtant’ issues facing dogs and their owners across Wales and how Dogs Trust can work with Members of the Senedd to take the lead on a range of areas. He also met Fern, a Lurcher-cross puppy, who was born in the rehoming centre and will shortly be moving to her forever home.
Rehoming Centre Deputy Manager, Kim Davies, chatted to Mr Fox about the daily work at the centre and some of the additional services offered in Wales, such as the Hope Project, supporting dog owners at risk of, or already experiencing homelessness.
Following his visit, Mr Fox said:
“It was a pleasure to visit Dogs Trust in their new Cardiff rehoming centre, to meet some of the happy residents and see and hear about all of the amazing work going on at the centre and across Wales. As a dog owner myself, it was sad to see so many dogs in need of a forever home, but clear to see the dedication of the staff at the centre who go above and beyond every day to give the dogs all they need to live healthy, happy lives until they find their perfect homes.
“Even if you can’t adopt a dog, there are plenty of ways for people across Wales to support Dogs Trust in all of their hard work. Whether by donating pre-loved items, organising fundraisers or volunteering, you can find all this information on their website.”
Kim Davies said:
“We were so pleased to host Peter at our rehoming centre, to see the work we do on site but also all of our campaigning and community work we do as well. It’s so important that we work closely with elected representatives in the Welsh Parliament and elsewhere, to keep as many dogs in loving homes and make sure that Wales is the best place it can be for dogs and their owners.”
