Our creaking transport system is having a severely damaging impact on our constituency’s economic fortunes, public safety and environment. To add insult to injury, the Welsh Labour Government has suspended all future road building across Wales.
We desperately need a Chepstow bypass, repair works following the Heads of the Valleys roadworks, and to upgrade the A40 Raglan bypass.
Our rural communities are cut off due to a lack of appropriate public transport. Our bus and rail services do not work. A South Wales Metro is planned, but this does not go far enough in rural areas.
A40 Raglan Bypass
The A40 Raglan bypass junction is dangerous and has even been described as “the most dangerous junction in Wales”.
Something needs to be done to protect residents and tourists at this accident black spot. I am working with our MP David TC Davies calling for change.
The Welsh Government have agreed to conduct a safety review of the junction, but we are yet to see any details.
