Peter Fox visits British Heart Foundation Charity Shop
Peter Fox, the Member for Monmouth, paid a visit to his local British Heart Foundation Charity Shop last week.
Among the volunteers were pupils form Monmouth Primary School who have been volunteering their time at the BHF shop.
Meeting with staff and volunteers, Peter Fox said:
“It was a pleasure to visit our excellent Monmouth British Heart Foundation shop, especially seeing the hard work that the young people form Monmouth Comprehensive have put in.
“This is a great initiative enabling some of our young people to gain experience that will stay with them and help shape their lives, and I could see just how much it meant to them.
“I am always amazed by the enthusiasm of the staff and volunteers who go above and beyond for such an important charity.”
Teaching Assistant, Joanne Hopkins, who accompanied the children said:
“In post-16 special resource education, our priority is to get these children ready to lead their lives.
“Volunteering at the British Heart Foundation has given fantastic work experience which helps with confidence, independence and wellbeing.
“Work experience like this helps us to guide and nurture these young people while supporting their local community.”
Gareth Noble, Manager of the BHF shop said:
“It has been great to welcome Peter Fox to our store again. It was great to demonstrate how fulfilling it is, not only for us to support these children in the community, but also for the children to see the value of their work experience to a charity like BHF Cymru.
“We make sure all our volunteers know that without them, the British Heart Foundation wouldn’t be able to fund its life saving research.”
