The Welsh Conservatives have reiterated calls to extend Land Transaction relief following the news that house prices in Wales have hit a record high. Commenting on the news, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, Peter Fox MS, said:
“For years, the Welsh Conservatives have been calling to increase point at which people pay Land Transaction Tax to £250,000 only to be dismissed at every turn.
“Disappointingly, Labour’s support for home buyers does not even reach the average house price in Wales. This is made worse by the fact that Welsh workers take home almost £3,000 less than their counterparts in other parts of the UK.
“Labour ministers need to urgently listen to our calls to extend Land Transaction relief and abolish the tax for first time buyers in Wales.”
