Welsh Conservatives have today welcomed the raise to grants for people in Wales on low pay who are told to self-isolate.
Commenting, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, Peter Fox MS said:
“This is a welcome increase for the lowest paid in society, made possible by the £8.6 billion of COVID-19 support provided by the UK Conservative Government to the Welsh Government.
“It’s hard enough dealing with self-isolation without the added financial pressures, and I’m pleased to see the Welsh Government using the funding available to support hardworking people.
“I hope to see the Welsh Labour Government now use the remaining billion pounds it’s currently holding back in Covid funds to deliver more support for Welsh families, workers and businesses.
“Holding funding back will hamper our recovery, and Labour ministers need to get this support out of the door to ensure Wales can get back on its feet after the difficulties of the past 18 months.”
