Welsh Conservatives are urging Labour ministers to use an ‘eye-watering’ unallocated £1.2billion to help build a stronger, fairer and greener Wales.
Peter Fox, Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Finance, said he was shocked to discover there was still more than £1.2billion sitting in the Labour-run Welsh Government’s coffers.
He will today call on Labour to spend the money to help the country recover from what has been a devastating 18 months for businesses and communities.
Speaking ahead of today’s budget debate in the Senedd, Peter Fox said:
“Labour ministers had an opportunity with this budget to help get the country back on its feet and correct so many historic wrongs after more than two decades in power, but they have yet again fallen short of the mark.
“Wales needs that £1.2billion investment now so we can start to level up the country by investing in vital infrastructure, building new homes, and delivering more funding for our NHS to tackle waiting list backlogs.
“This should be the Welsh Labour Government’s budget priority moving forward so we can build a stronger, fairer and greener Wales.”
